What we believe

We believe that while God has chosen to speak to humanity through angels, prophets and His Holy Spirit in the past, the Bible is currently God’s only revealed message to us.  This message is available to everyone who wants to learn about God and His purpose with the earth.

We therefore recognise the Bible as our only authority and we believe it should be read with prayer and respect at all times. (2 Timothy 3:16-17Romans 16:25-26John 17:17)

GOD:  God is our almighty Creator, generous Provider, gracious Redeemer, and loving Father. By His Spirit God is present and active everywhere in the world.  There is only one eternal God. Jesus Christ is His only Son, and the Holy Spirit is His Power. (Isaiah 45:5-7Ephesians 4:61Timothy 1:17 ; 2:5)

MAN:  All humanity is born mortal and will sin (let God down). The end result of sin is death. (Job 4:17Psalms 146:4Ecclesiastes 9:1-6Jeremiah 17:9-10; Mark 7:21-23Romans 3:23; 6:23)  God has communicated with mankind to inform us of His purpose and call us to obey His moral will.  This message has been documented in the Bible, which is from God, and inspired by Him.  JESUS:  In His love, God sent His son, Jesus, to save us from sin and death.  Those who believe in him will receive eternal life. (Matthew 1:21John 3:16-17).

SACRIFICE OF CHRIST:  Although Jesus lived a life without sin, he died on the cross to save all those who turn to God in faith, acknowledge that God is right and that He alone can save them from death.  God raised him from the dead, gave him immortality and granted him all authority on earth and in heaven. (Acts 2:22-36Romans 3:21-26; Ephesians 1:19-231Timothy 2:5Hebrews 4:14-16)

OUR HOPE:  Our hope is life after death by resurrection of the body and life in God’s Kingdom on earth. (Acts 3:19-21; 1 Thessalonians 2:19; John 11:21-25; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23)

RETURN OF CHRIST:  Signs in the world around us tell us that Jesus Christ will return to the earth soon. Those who have known God’s Truth, both the resurrected and those who are alive at his return, will be judged by Jesus Christ; the faithful will share in everlasting life in God’s Kingdom. (Daniel 12:1-2Matthew 25:31-34Luke 21:20-31John 5:28-292 Timothy 4:1; Revelation 22:12)

KINGDOM OF GOD:  The Kingdom of God will be established on earth with Jesus Christ as King.  The capital city will be Jerusalem, his dominion will be worldwide, and his government will bring righteousness and peace. (Luke 4:43Matthew 4:23; 6:9-10Jeremiah 3:17; Isaiah 2:2-4; 11:1-10; Daniel 2:2-4; Luke 1:31-33)

THE GOSPEL:  The word ‘gospel’ means ‘good news’.  It is the message of salvation the followers of Jesus took to the world after his ascension into heaven, and we can read about in our Bible today.  The Gospel is linked with the promises God made to Abraham and David in Old Testament times.  These promises are talking about Jesus Christ. (Genesis 13:14-17; 22:15-18Galatians 3:6-9, 26-29; 1 Chronicles 17:11-14; Acts 2:30-36)

THE WAY OF SALVATION:  We cannot do anything to earn eternal life – it is given by God’s grace through Jesus Christ.  If we believe in God’s Word, the Bible, and follow His Son Jesus Christ, God has promised us salvation. (Matthew 16:24-27Mark 16:16; Luke 12:32; John 3:3-5;  Ephesians 2:4-8; 1 Thessalonians 2:132 Timothy 3:14-17Hebrews 11:6)

LOVE:  God’s love for us is at the root of His whole plan.  Love for God and humanity should motivate us to respond to His message. (Matthew 22:34-40John 3:1613:34-351 Corinthians 13:4-131 John 4:7-21)
